For many of our clients that have solar PV systems, the logical progression is to incorporate battery storage into the home, to store any excess power for later use. By installing a battery system, households can significantly boost the amount of renewable energy they use, therefore becoming more self-sufficient and reducing their reliance on the national grid for electricity.
Here at Nimbus Solar, we want to be part of a future where homes and businesses will be using, generating their own electricity and contributing to the UK’s progression towards greener, renewable energy.
Solar battery technology aligns seamlessly with electricity suppliers offering innovative tariff structures. Time-of-day tariffs, offering cheaper electricity at night, allowing homeowners to charge their batteries with economical nighttime electricity, complementing solar charging during the day. Some suppliers go a step further with real-time pricing, where rates fluctuate based on factors like offshore wind generation. Nimbus Solar can help you find the perfect storage solution for your home or business.
With home battery backup systems your home stays powered even when the grid goes down. These smart energy storage systems automatically detect outages and seamlessly switch your home to stored power.
Uninterrupted Power Supply – Automatically powers essential circuits or your entire home during outages.
Smart Energy Management – Prioritises critical devices and optimises energy usage for longer backup duration.
Storm and Grid Protection – Tesla’s Storm Watch and Sigenergy’s intelligent monitoring systems prepare your battery before extreme weather events.
Seamless Solar Integration – Continue producing and storing solar energy even when the grid is down.
Scalable Backup Capacity – Both systems can be expanded to meet your household’s size and energy needs.
During the winter months in the UK, solar PV production is significantly reduced. Less sunshine, fewer daylight hours and sub-zero temperatures can all have an impact on battery charge/discharge rates and general operation.

Don’t go anywhere else!
Solar is a big investment, and we wanted to be absolutely sure that Nimbus were right for us – after being badly let down by another supplier who blamed Brexit by the delays of almost 12 months.
What was installed went beyond our expectations as was the pre, during and post service from Dan and his team.
For starters, obvious as it sounds, Dan insisted on a site visit to see how exactly what we wanted would fit and operate. The siting and specifications were changed (different alignment, less panels and more batteries). Honesty was apparent, as difficult bad news (we needed to level the land – only 75 tonnes had to be moved!) was delivered in a professional manner. The system and its operation was explained in detail but in a non-jargonistic way. We had an illustration on savings / return on investment also. Additionally, we have an informative app. Thank you, Dan!
[…] We have been receiving a net income from our solar panels during the summer months, and it’s been reassuring that Dan has been keeping an eye on that via the app statistics.
We will now assess over 12 months and decide if we add additional batteries.
